It was dark,
All around it was dark.
Yet I said, I saw everything clearly.
It was dark,
not the darkness of night,
but the darkness of error.
Yes, truly it was dark,
then he (Dominic) came with the light of truth.
It was dark.....
he kept me awake in the dim candle light
awaking me into the dawn.
There the splendour of truth shines,
brighter than the Rising Sun.
It was dark,
I feared to see the light.
Darkness was a comfort....!
Courage to open my eyes,
that was all I needed.
His compassion crushed my fear.
It was dark,
now I see that it was all bright.
I place myself on lamp-stand.
Christ shines - the Eternal Light!
Oil keeps burning - the love of my heart.
It is bright light.
It is all bright light.
